We’ve had our first NaNoWriMo check-in on Friday (the 9th) and will continue to check calendars on Monday, since there was some confusion about the 9th being a Friday and not a Monday, as it appears visually on the calendar we sent home. Please remind your author to bring in their calendars tomorrow if they didn’t do so on Friday. Most 5th grade authors reported that they have been writing and are making progress on their novels. This week marks the half-way point, so if you notice your child isn’t meeting their goal remind them daily to get their writing done. The next check-in date has changed due to the Thanksgiving Vacation, so we’re moving it from the 23rd to the 26th. Remember there is no school on Thursday, the 22nd or Friday, the 23rd.
Next Wednesday, the 21st of November the 5th and 6th graders are going on a field trip to the Minnesota History Museum. We leave Marcy at 9:30 and return at 2:30. The cost is $7.00. We’re going to:
- learn in depth about a specific event in Minnesota’s history from a historical character.
- to view primary and secondary resources that inform us about the US-Dakota Conflict of 1862.
- to explore information and events from Minnesota’s past that interest us.
Mark your calendars! Peace Plays will be held at Marcy in the theatre on December 18th. Morning ELA classes will be performing at 10 o’clock and afternoon classes will perform at 2:00.
WE NEED PENCILS! The supply that we had at the beginning of the year is almost gone. Please bring some pencils to contribute to the classroom (already sharpened would be fantastic). In a classroom, there is no such thing as too many pencils.
(Dixon Ticonderoga #2’s are the best!)
